Emmy the Great

I’ve been pumped to see Emmy the Great play a full on set for quite a bit and now that evening has happened and I can safely say, it was, as Tony would say, GREEEEEEEEEEEEAT (man that doesn’t get old… i think, though I do have cravings for frosties now). (more…)

Ane Brun live at Union Chapel

If only all venues sounded as amazing as the Union Chapel. This was the second time I saw a gig at the Union Chapel (both in February) and it’s become a venue that will never disappoint you in delivering amazing acoustics to your tired innocent ears (mine anyway). That’s just the venue! Wait until you hear about Ane Brun. Her + Union Chapel = Aural sex.

M. Ward live at the Borderline

Man what a gig, I originally got into M. Ward from a friend and instantly fell in love with his latest album Hold Time. Now he’s upset that I went to his gig and he wasn’t able to hehe. So here’s a lovely review about them to make it all up.

Rachael Yamagata live at Water Rats

Last nigiht was quite a crazy mashup of gigs I could potentially go, M. Ward was playing, Fleet Foxes were playing and some other bands I liked were playing. I opted for Rachael Yamagata because she kept appearing in my Last.fm recommended and I’ll be seeing M. Ward tonight anyway. I came out the venue really enjoying her show, it was a fun and relaxing night.

Muselive.com: rock for controversial people?

Muse: Matt at Royal Albert Hall Now typically I steer clear of any website clashing/wars and just stick to my own stuff and whatnot, but after reading an article from one of my fellow bloggers and close friends. I thought I’d share the article to those who aren’t fully in the know about the things behind it all and show my support for every word he’s said. It’s one of those things where you could either ignore and hope it doesn’t get worse or something you just need to start taking action on and pointing out that there is something fundamentally wrong about them.

Neko Case live at Bush Hall

Tonight I saw Neko Case live at Bush Hall, it was a sold out show for the firey haired country singer songwritter and showcased loads of new tracks from her latest album Middle Cyclone. It was nice and relaxing gig despite being hot and sweaty.

Sky Larkin at Rough Trade East

Sky Larkin

Just some more gig updates, Sky Larkin did a quick instore at Rough Trade East and I managed to check her out with my gigging buddy Anika. I saw soheresanomelette before the gig and said hi (he recognised me from my trademark “orange” scarf (yup i trademarked both) and we had the briefest of chats (shame :( ). Sky Larkin were fun (will upload a video of them later) and I enjoyed it muchly. My favourite track is still nonetheless Beeline but it was nice hearing Pica and Fossil, I. I literally bought their album a few days before the gig and really love it. They had a tasty deal where you could buy it in itunes for less than a fiver (win). After that gig we did some bantering and headed off to see Moriarty at the Slaughtered Lamb, a review about that some other time! (Man i need to write a checklist of gigs I need to write about).
