“We’ve never heard it” cries the fans to the sold out St Vincent show at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, it was obvious that most of the folks (well, at the front anyway) has heard Annie’s latest album Actor and love it (based on the cheers to the songs she announces). It was an exciting and playful show down at East Lundun.

Marianne Faithful at Rough Trade East

I managed to catch Marianne Faithful play a few songs at the intimate venue that is Rough Trade East. It was one of the biggest Rough Trade East instore I’ve seen (the other two big ones included of Montreal and Franz Ferdinand). Marianne did a few covers in her own way including Morrisey and Neko Case, Neko Case’s cover of Hold on was definitely one worth watching, unfortunately I wasn’t able to film that, I have some that ill upload in the future so stay tuned for that.

Marianne was very friendly and talkative and encouraged people to just talk to her whilst she was on stage. The set was very short but nonetheless a cool one, after the show me and Anika managed to bump into Patrick Wolf a second time, he was there for the show too but obviously missed it, i told him that they were goign to do a signing and he popped in the venue to check that out, was surreal meeting him again. Röyksopp at Southbank Ether Festival 09

Man it’s tedious trying to type Röyksopp every time (the damn o haha), I’ll just copy the name one and hope it will last. Anyway, the following day after Peaches I went to see Röyksopp play an exclusive one off show in London Royal Festival Hall (Southbank) for Ether Festival 2009. It was truly a spectacular gig, Fever Ray supported which adds the extra awesomeness to it.

Peaches at Southbank Ether Festival 09

The ether festival has a pretty epic lineup, but the three that struck me most are Peaches, Röyksopp and Squarepusher. I’ve seen Peaches live during a random Reading festival and it was just brilliant! She really knows how to work the stage and put on a show so there was no question in seeing her live at Royal Festival Hall (I love this venue!). It was an evening filled with filth, dancing mushroom type things, and some good old fashioned flying on stage.
