Website nearly completed, Migration Imminent

Seems like my prototype site is almost ready for launch. Quite alot of new features have been implemented including:

  • Better integration with social networking sites (includes Digg it/Delicious/Reddit buttons, and more profile pages)
  • Pagination for news and podcast articles
  • Fixing and including some new sideboxes (including Top Songs/Top Tags/Current Show)
  • Voting on podcasts
  • Allow images on news items, integrated onto articles more nicely
  • Loads of fixes on site, including the comments section

The report is doing strangely well. I’m at about 57 pages and 14,000 odd words. Still got evaluation and conclusion to do. Hopefully that will mainly be content only as well as reflections to the site.

Need to review with Supervisors as well as book a time to demonstrate site. I will hopefully get the site migrating and working live before demonstration.

It’s all coming together now. The pagination was a great idea since some people commented on how they’d like to view old news. The social network links look a lot better with their logos, I think that will definitely help the site reach more people now they are integrated. Perhaps they could be included on the index page as well as the individual id page? What do you think? I think what with the navigation bar moving to the top the hover element needs to be adjusted since it blocks the header text on some links.

Thanks for all the hard work and good luck with the documentation of it all.

I’ve just been using the admin section and I’ve just found that deleting news items after the confirmation takes me to the podcast listing and doesn’t delete the news item. Also could the news in the admin section be ordered with the newest first like the site?

Also what do you think about sourcing the news from other site’s rss feeds?

I’ll add the buttons on the index page, good idea. Bit like digg and how you can technically digg the stuff before you even read the article. Thanks

In regards to deleting, I will have a look at it now and fix the problem now. I’ll also sort the ordering out too, didnt really look into ordering too much in the prototyping phase since it was such an easy thing to do :)
In terms of sourcing news from other site’s rss, thats essentially what the feeds section is doing. You can add new feeds onto that place and immediately start checking out their feeds and adding them onto news. The “Musecast” generated one was done via Yahoo Pipes which managed to collate, sort and order the feeds of several popular Muse fansites together.

Hope that helps. I’ll fix the problems addressed now.

Right, I’ve amended the top bar so the white border hovers dont overlap the p. I’ve also included social networking buttons on all summary pages. The news section is fixed to display latest at the top, the delete news section is also fixed (few typos) and I’ve also did a few cosmetic changes. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day we roll this thing out.
