Got myself a laptop for £250 from someone at work, was pretty awesome.
Twas a Dell D610, funny how i managed to buy it though.
One of my work collegues (Nicky) was going to advertise around the office a laptop and printer she wanted to sell. The price was £300 for the laptop and some rediculous price for the printer. I immediately asked her what laptop it was and whether or not I could buy it. The day after she brought the laptop in and I had a quick look at it. Specs were alright, 1.6ghz Intel Centrino, 512mb ram, 30gb (shabby but you know) and wifi included. I thought why not, £300 isnt much so I went to the cash machine and took out £250 (max you can get from the bank in one day). I told her I would bring her the remaining £50 tommorow.
After some inspection (and some searching on ebay) I found out that IBM thinkpads were around that price and that 1.6ghz isnt really that fast. So I hastefully went back down to where Nicky was sitting and asked for a refund. This is the best bit. She originally had two people wanting to buy the laptop, me and some other person. When I bought the thing she told her husband to decline the other guy who wanted to buy it. This is where it gets rather sticky.
She tried contacting the other person who wanted to buy it but apparently he didnt want it either!! Probably put off by the fact that someone didnt want it hehe. So yeah, she offered to lower the price to £250. I said no still and went on to do my work (surf the web)
After some MORE research I’ve realised what a fool I was into thinking that 1.6ghz CENTRINO was a crap processor. Centrinos can whoop any Celeron processor anyday so yeah. Fast computer and all. Not slow
So i went back down and asked if i could buy it, she said yes and BAM! hehe
(i did some lying too, said my girlfriend wanted it, not me haha)
So yeah, laptop for £250 with awesome specs. AH YEAH
