FLASH! AAAAH!

FLASH! AAAAH!

Some might say it’s a saviour in the photography universe.

Well it’s finally arrived, I feel like I’ve finally completed my camera in making it into a super monster for anything. There’s a few lenses I want here and there (fisheye and a better zoom) but I think i’m pretty set with gear for a while.

I haven’t really thought about how I’m going to use this bad boy, but I guess the idea is for me to span into the whole portrait and studio shots and whatnot so a decent flash is needed. I’ve considered trying flash during a gig to compare but chances are i’ll stick to good old non flash photos for a more natural look (just will suck a bit when i shoot in venues with strong casts of colours)

Uhm.. what else, I used my other broken flash gun to shoot this, I’ve been using the yellow background for all my gear purchases so I thought I’d continue the condition. Really enjoying the flash gun already, twisting the neck is fun and being able to mount the bad boy into the camera with ease is ace. But yeah, will try it out more in the future :)

Oh and I’m naming him Gordon :)

Au Revoir Simone at Bush Hall (126/365)

Keyboard smashing, disco making Au Revoir Simone played an awesome sold out show at the Bush Hall. Quite a tantalising set from the 3 beautiful and friendly ladies who just got back from touring Sweden.

Josh Weller at Pure Groove (125/365)

This was quite a mini gig venture since my idea for the evening was to head down to Nando’s for some chicken, but having some free live music before that adds the cherry on top. Me and Anika went to Pure Groove to check out Josh Weller who was doing an instore there, I met up with some Patrick Wolf fans who were at the Selfridges gig, that was ace.

For those who don’t know, this song is from the game Kingdom Hearts, it’s called Simple and Clean in English and features jpop superstar / tetris goddess Utada Hikaru, last night I went on quite a Utada fest and downloaded loads of versions of this as well as Passion/Sanctuary, which is the song for the sequel of Kingdom Hearts. Utada explains that she likes washing up dishes hehe. I wish jpop superstars could tour London, but alas it’s only a dream, she is breaking into New York though which is cool.

St Vincent – THE blue and red outfit

Annie lets not wait (190/365)

After a fun browse at my flickr accounts, I’ve notice a recurring pattern in one my favourite artists, St Vincent, whenever she tours around the place…

She’s wearing the same top blue and red top! Rather than thinking she doesn’t believe in the launderette I’m simply under the impression that she just about 8 of the same outfit for when she gigs. Anyway, here’s a slew of photos, all taken from different photographers (who are amazing btw), you can include my one too from ICA (look up) too:

Funny how it was known as Canopies and Grapes for a looong time. Whilst looking at this I also noticed that Emmy did a Faye Wong cover! Awesome beans!
