Amanda Fucking Palmer at Union Chapel

Amanda Fucking Palmer
Amanda Fucking Palmer live at Union Fucking Chapel. Another gig where I worry about whether the chapel is a suitable venue, but turns out it was! Amanda embraces the epic reverb and storms out with an unplugged hymne recital. She chooses her songs well that fit well into the venue and delivers a enchanting performance.

Midway through the set she throws 2 “ask amanda” sessions where she would answer questions randomly drawn from a box submitted by fans (probably in the queue). She answers them with honesty and entertains the crowd with her quirky anecdotes and stories of the land that is England. Sessions like these constantly breaks the fourth wall and makes us all feel part of the community.

The highlight song were probably Puff the magic dragon which was sung by Polly (she wasn’t that bad at this mind!) and Oasis with full band and backing from Polly. Singing about abortions in a church makes perfect sense.

Nearer the end there was an auction for a painting as well as the usual signing session near the end where we’d all get to meet Amanda. Unfortunately I had to dash since the tube was mangled up this weekend meaning Highbury and Islington was a no goer. Ho hum.
