On the first of October I attended a lovely Lykke Li gig, I bought the tickets from ebay (face value mm) and was keen in seeing her in action. The venue was lovely and always had amazing lights for awesome shots (such as the ones from Okkervil River and Tilly and the Wall). The music was all kinds of awesome, if you haven’t heard her yet then check this little video I posted earlier. The atmosphere was chilled and since the venue was mainly for clubbing and whatnot, it was a lovely place to listen to some relaxing music as well as enjoying the crazy elegant moves of Lykke Li. It’s nice shooting close up shots of the artist, sometimes it was a bit too close but it meant you could really capture the expressions and what not of the artist.
“So I weep, so I weep, so I weep…”
Lykke Li was quite an animated character, she danced throughout the gig and encouraged people to dance too. Her hair was down tonight whilst meant it was all over the place when she trancing it up. She wore a cool necklace that was fly about all over the place which she occasionally used to blow into too.
“I think I’m a little bit”
Some of the cooler moments was when she used the black megaphone sat patiently beside her micstand. With songs such as Breaking It up. Her setlist was pretty short since she only has a debut album but she managed to throw in a wee blues cover (can’t remember the name even though I have the setlist in front of me). My highlights were Little Bit, Let it Fall and I’m good, I’m gone.
“Le sigh”
It’s hard to explain teh dancing so I’ve posted a wee video of her in action. It also gives you an idea of how ridiculously close I was to the stage Enjoy
Lykke Li is the pronounciation of “Lykkelig” in Norwegian, which means, “happy” or “blissful” :p
